Automatic frame rate and audio passthrough on Android TV
On Android TV, automatic frame rate avoids judder and audio passthrough sends Dolby Digital and DTS sound to your amp untouched. Premium feature.
Nipo doesn’t provide, sell or host any channel, movie or playlist: it plays what you already own.
Two advanced settings, available on Android TV, for a smoother picture and faithful surround sound to your amp or sound bar.
Automatic frame rate
This setting switches the television to the frame rate of the current channel or movie (50 Hz for most European channels, 24 Hz for films): smoother motion, no judder.
- Off: the television keeps its usual frame rate.
- On (seamless only): the switch happens with no visible interruption. Needs Android 11 or later.
- On (always): works on every Android TV, but may show a black screen for a second when a channel starts. Choose this option if your television predates Android 11.
Audio passthrough
Dolby Digital and DTS sound is sent untouched to your amplifier or sound bar, which decodes it itself, instead of being converted by Nipo Player.
- Your television or amp must support the format; if the sound cuts out or crackles, turn the setting off.
- If your output only accepts stereo for now, connect an amplifier over HDMI (ARC/eARC) or optical to get surround sound.
Tip
Both settings are part of Nipo Premium and Nipo Family, and are specific to Android TV (boxes and televisions). See also Default audio and subtitle language for other sound and subtitle settings.
