Nipo Player rows on the Android TV home screen

On classic Android TV, Nipo Player feeds two launcher rows: "Continue watching" and "Favourite channels". On Google TV, only "Continue watching" shows up.

Nipo doesn’t provide, sell or host any channel, movie or playlist: it plays what you already own.

On Android TV, Nipo Player can show your movies and series in progress, plus your favourite channels, right on the television's home screen, without opening the app.

The two rows

  1. Continue watching: your recently watched movies, episodes and channels, resuming right where you stopped.
  2. Favourite channels: the channels you've marked as favourites in Nipo Player.

Both rows update on their own, from your favourites and your viewing history inside the app: nothing to turn on.

Depending on the platform

  • Classic Android TV (boxes, televisions with the older launcher): both rows show up.
  • Google TV (Chromecast with Google TV, newer televisions): only the Continue watching row shows up; the favourite-channels row generally doesn't appear on this launcher.
  • Fire TV: its home screen doesn't pick up other apps' rows this way.

Tip

Tapping a card in these rows opens the content directly in Nipo Player, without going through the app's menu. Only internal ids travel to the launcher, never your playlist's address.
