XMLTV guide
Nipo Player is an M3U player with a TV guide (EPG). XMLTV is a standard format for describing that programme guide: a list of channels, and for each, its programmes with start and stop times.
Nipo Player does not provide, sell or host any content. Use it with playlists you are legally allowed to access.
In one sentence
An XMLTV guide lists channels (<channel>) and their programmes (<programme>) with precise times; Nipo matches it to your playlist by channel id, and accepts a compressed file (.xml.gz).
The structure
Every channel has a unique id, and every programme references that id with its times. Example with fictional names:
guide.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<tv>
<channel id="aurora1.fictif">
<display-name>Aurora 1 HD</display-name>
</channel>
<programme start="20260928190000 +0200" stop="20260928200000 +0200" channel="aurora1.fictif">
<title>Grand quiz du soir</title>
<desc>Émission fictive de divertissement.</desc>
</programme>
</tv>How Nipo matches the guide to your playlist
Matching happens by id, in this order:
tvg-id
tvg-name

FAQ
Does Nipo accept compressed guides (.gz)?
Yes. A .xml.gz link is decompressed automatically, even when the server doesn’t announce it correctly.
What happens if a channel has no programme in the guide?
It still plays normally; only the programme panel stays empty in the guide and the player’s mini guide.
Can I use an XMLTV guide in a different language than my playlist?
Yes, as long as the channel ids (tvg-id) or names match, the language of the titles doesn’t affect matching.
How many days does an XMLTV guide cover?
It entirely depends on the guide provided; some cover a week, others only the current day.
