Catch-up

Catch-up lets you watch a programme again after it aired, or restart a programme that’s currently airing from its beginning. It isn’t a separate format: it’s information a channel adds to say it keeps a history, and for how many days. A Nipo Premium and Nipo Family feature, already in the app.

Player only

Nipo Player does not provide, sell or host any content. Use it with playlists you are legally allowed to access.

In one sentence

A channel announces catch-up by stating a number of archive days (catchup-days in M3U, tv_archive/tv_archive_duration in Xtream login); Nipo then shows that channel’s past programmes, within that many days.

How a channel announces it

Depending on the connection type, the signal has a different name but says the same thing: how many archive days are available.

M3U playlist

The catchup and catchup-days (or tvg-rec) attributes on the channel’s #EXTINF line.

Server login

The tv_archive and tv_archive_duration fields returned for each live channel.

Without this information

The channel plays normally live, it simply has no catch-up in Nipo.

What you see in Nipo

  1. The list of channels that offer catch-up
  2. For a chosen channel, its past programmes, within the announced archive days
  3. Each programme’s title and summary, like in the guide
  4. “Start over” on a programme that’s currently airing, to restart it from the beginning
  5. Playback of the chosen programme, like a normal programme

FAQ

Is catch-up on sale yet?

It’s already in the app, as a Nipo Premium and Nipo Family feature: see the Premium page to buy it.

Do all channels have catch-up?

No. Only the ones that announce archive days show up in the catch-up channel list.

What is "start over"?

On a programme that’s currently airing, this restarts it from the beginning instead of waiting for the live broadcast to finish.

How far back can I watch a programme again?

It entirely depends on what the channel announces; Nipo shows exactly that limit, never more.

Does catch-up need a special setting?

No. If it’s announced by your playlist or account, it shows up automatically in Nipo.

Why doesn’t a recent programme have an archive?

The server can mark a specific programme as having no archive available, even if the channel offers catch-up; Nipo respects that and doesn’t show it.
